Lots of surprises early on this season, making it more exciting to play NBA DFS. The Darius Garlands, the Mason Plumlees, and the Tyrese Haliburtons, continue to be on a roll, so who from among the ranks of the low salaries could step up and help you bag a win? Let’s find out.
1.) Tyus Jones, PG, Grizzlies
Yahoo: $10; DraftKings: $5,200; $5,800
Problems require solutions and for Memphis Grizzlies and injured star point guard Ja Morant, you have to replace him in that starting lineup with his backup. That second-stringer and the next man up is Tyus Jones. The former Duke Blue Devil may not wow you with his scoring numbers but he does everything well. At his price, I’m tempted to pull the trigger.
2.) Kyle Anderson, SF, Grizzlies
Yahoo: $17; DraftKings: $6,000; $6,200
While Jones is more of a question mark, Anderson is the exclamation mark, at least for the Grizzlies’ first three games. He came out and scored a career-best 28 in the night that Morant injured his ankle and may carry the bulk of the offense for Memphis moving forward. “Slo-mo” could be your guy.
3.) Bobby Portis, C, Bucks
Yahoo: $14; DraftKings: $4,600
There were forecasts in the preseason that Portis may supplant Brook Lopez and we now see why. Portis has strung up three consecutive double-digit scoring games and one of them is a double-double. Over that span, he really is playing more than Lopez so, we’ll see. In the meantime, his salary at DK and FanDuel is very tempting.
4.) Keldon Johnson, SG, Spurs
Yahoo: $19; DraftKings: $5,700; FanDuel: $5,800
We all know what Keldon Johnson can do at this point, so unless he’d suddenly become overpriced, he’ll stay on my Bargain list.
5.) Kyle Kuzma, SF, Lakers
Yahoo: $14; DraftKings: $5,900; FanDuel: $4,200
For some reason, Kyle Kuzma plays well against the Spurs. He did put up a stinker the last time but the guy averaged 18.5 points against San Antonio for his career. Look to lock him up, especially at FanDuel.
