I didn’t particularly like this weekends slate of games. Saturday had a huge 13 gamer and yesterday was an injury riddled 4 game slate. I am looking forward to this 6 game, there haven’t been many lately. Here are 3 players to build your DraftKings lineup around.
Nikola Vucevic – $7,900
Nikola has been playing well since coming back from injury. His first 3 games he missed his fantasy average but he was very close, he has surpassed it in the last 3 of the last 4 games, two of them he finished with a double double. I like his matchup tonight against the Hawks. Atlanta is starting Bruno Fernando, he is only averaging 11 minutes a game, Damian Jones is coming off the bench and he is only getting 17 minutes a game. Hopefully Vucevic will take advantage of these two bench players getting increased minutes because of injury. Orlando is one of the lower scoring teams in the league, I hope that means Atlanta will be able to keep it close. As long as Vucevic gets his minutes I think a 20 point, 10 rebound double double is the bare minimum. $7,900 is a decent price for Nikola, it isn’t a value but he isn’t overpriced.
Joe Ingles – $6,100
Joe Ingles has been great since getting his starting job back, Bogdanovic moved to PF which freed up the 2 guard for Ingles. Jinglin’ Joe has surpassed his fantasy average in the last 10 games. He has gotten his 3 point stroke back, his average is up over 40% from deep, and he is knocking down 81% of his free throws. Detroit is pretty banged up heading into tonight’s game in Utah. Svi Mykhailiuk has been playing well for the Pistons at SG, but he is mainly on the floor for his offense. The only time the Jazz are involved in a “blowout” are when they are on the losing end of a 20 point differential, they tend not to win by huge margins. The Pistons can put up some points but they are really banged up, I don’t see them pulling out the win but I can see them keeping it close. $6,100 is a good price for Ingles, he has been hovering around that salary the last 7 games.
Kendrick Nunn – $5,100
Nunn has failed to reach his fantasy average in 3 of the last 4 games. He had a tough time getting his fantasy points against Philadelphia and Utah, he beat his average by 2 against a banged up Pacers team. Tonight’s game against the Wizards is a good game for Nunn to break out of this little slump and put up some big numbers. Even though he has had a bit of a struggle reaching his fantasy average, Nunn has scored double digits in 11 straight game. Washington gives up the most points in the NBA, opponents are averaging 121 points against them a night. Hopefully Nunn can increase his assists tonight picking apart the weak Wizards defense. I don’t think there will be a risk of a blowout, despite giving up the most points in the league, they score the 3rd most points on offense. Beal is a GTD, if he is out the chances of a blowout increase a lot. Nunn gets the second most minutes on the team behind Butler, Kendrick is logging 30.3 minutes a game. There is going to be plenty of scoring this game and I think it will run a lot through Nunn. Nunn is a great price today too, $5,100, which is down quite a bit for his $6,000+ salary form just a few games ago.
Those are the 3 players I am building around, here are a few more I am going to try and work into my lineup. I like Whiteside against the Suns, he is only $7,100 and I like the matchup against Baynes. Svi Mykhailiuk is a cheap offensive option at $4,000 too.
